Personally, Samoas are my downfall. There is no other girl scout cookie that compares. Filled with caramel, chocolate, and coconut, every bite is full of flavor. Not to mention, the center is cut out, which means they fit perfectly around your fingers when you are holding multiple in one hand. As a kid, I always took as many Samoas that could fit around my fingers, playing with the cookies as they disappeared too fast.

Thin Mints and Tagalongs come in second. Both are distinct in flavor, something very important in a Girl Scout Cookie. Thin Mints are full of chocolate, and have that burst of cool freshness in your mouth. While Tagalongs taste like your all American sugar cookie. Regardless which cookie I eat, it is impossible every year for me to not buy at least 10 boxes of all my favorites. Now if only they sold cookies year round!

First, it is important to take into account the weather of the day. If it is rainy or snowy you automatically have to cut out the most expense shoes, and those not sprayed to withstand water. Usually, for the college student this leaves Uggs or rain boots.

Next, the actual outfit the shoes are to be worn with must be examined. Is it best for the outfit to have bright shoes with lots of color, or does it call for simple black? Once the color is decided it is then important to think about how long the shoe will be worn for. If you are leaving your house for 12 hours, the three inch stiletto heels are not going to cut. However, there are those occasions the shoe wearer will agree to stomach the pain.

Finally, after all these steps are complete the right pair is usually chosen. For an accessory isn’t an accessory until it is paired with the right outfit!

For starters, let’s talk about getting ready in the morning. Most of my guy friends say it takes them 15 minutes max to take a shower and get dressed. Most women I know, it takes 15 minutes alone just to shower! Men do not understand the time it takes to wash long hair, comb it, dry it, and then finish getting dressed. Thus, it is not fair when men yell at women to hurry up and get ready, because they want to leave. Heck if my hair were buzzed I would be out the door in 15 minutes too. However, until having buzzed hair as a woman becomes socially acceptable and trendy, I don’t see this happening.

I think women got the bad end of the stick. We are suppose to be the beautiful ones that always look gorgeous and beautiful. And so we follow what society tells us to do and play dress up, becoming a slave to our hairdryers, flat irons, and curling irons. Yet, while we can get sick of it and even ridiculed by men for it, in the end we wouldn’t trade it for the world.

In their effort to beat the system, the students take on different identities, so as to stay under the radar. While card counting is not illegal it is highly looked down upon in Vegas, and can land counters in trouble. In the movie, Ben, the main character only took part in card counting to earn money for Harvard Medical School. Not being able to afford the $300,000 tuition on his own, Ben managed to save more than the necessary as the top player among his MIT counting teammates. However, when things turned ugly he lost all his money and had start again from scratch.

As a result, Ben applied for Harvard’s full tuition scholarship, only received by one student. In the interview for the scholarship he explained to the admissions dean what he had been up to at MIT and Vegas. The dean had once told him he didn’t stand out among other applicants and needed more life experience. Ben stated the one thing his linear algebra professor told him to always account for was variable change. For Ben this applied to card counting, losing everything he had, and then learning he still held the last card; life experience. After sharing his tell-tale story Ben replied to the dean, “Did I dazzle you? Did I jump of the page?” With this being said, it is assumed he won the scholarship.

Jillian claimed the toppings men choose to put on their hot dog is directly related to their type of personality. For example, if a man only puts mustard on his hot dog, he enjoys adventure and the outdoors. If a man puts on the works: onions, ketchup, mustard, and relish then he loves to entertain those he cares about. Jason at first a skeptic, was chose ketchup and mustard on his hot dog. Jillian explained to him what she thought his personality was like, down to earth, compassionate, and your everyday guy. Hitting the nail on the head, Jason became a believer.

The whole hot dog theory got me thinking, is there a food theory out there that works for women? I can’t help but think if there was it would be centered around either chocolate or ice cream. Let’s face it, women love desserts, but if they had to choose it would be chocolate. Maybe in the next season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” a bachelor will come up with his own food theory.

In the documentary viewed in class, Daily News staff allowed cameras to follow their every move on a typical work day. The documentary showed how all the reporters worked together to make the 10:30pm deadline to send the paper to press.

One of the reporters followed was a field reporter. His job was to follow leads received by “the shack,” the newspaper’s grand central location that received police reports. The field reporter ran all around town to get the story before Daily News competitor The Post. This included knocking on many random doors, stopping people in the street, and even a stake out to get the correct information for a story.

I could never do the job of the Daily News field reporter. While he found his work exciting and worthwhile, that type of constant on the go lifestyle is not for me. I would hate to have my life ruled by a 10:30pm deadline everyday.

Since I was in the third grade I have always wanted to become a lawyer. I was told at a young age, I had a knack for debating and standing up for the rights of others. Speaking loud and getting my point across was something I was good at. Really, I feel this was just skill I acquired as the youngest child.

Regardless, preparing for the LSAT is now all I think about. I have signed up for a prep course in the summer, however, I fear the class alone will not be enough. Thus, while my fellow peers will be off at the beach and enjoying the summer, I will be reading my life away.

The daily events that occur and make the news, whether celebrity gossip or not, are talked about by others. In the business world, “small talk” is ruled by current events. Thus, it is important to be “in the know”. I know it sounds lame, but I was always told knowing a little about a lot of things, can make anyone an excellent conversationalist. It’s all about relating to people.

My sister completely lacks any knowledge on pop culture. A couple of evenings ago, her boyfriend and I were quizzing her on football and basketball teams. The responses she came up with were hilarious. According to her, Brett Favre is a famous tennis player and the Washington Wizards are a baseball team. Obviously she has no knowledge of sports, which she argues doesn’t matter because she doesn’t care. I argue it does.

My point is, if someone in the business world brings up a current event about a famous football player and you say a comment assuming he is a tennis player, I feel credibility is lost. Call me crazy, but I feel a lack of pop culture in some cases can come off as ditziness.

I know for most this isn’t a big deal. But for those anal organizers, a simple thing as the weather can throw off a day. I am not crazy, but wouldn’t you get mad if you left the house dressed for 60 almost 70 degree weather, and then find yourself freezing. It’s like there should be a disclaimer: “Yes, it is 67 degrees out today, but only for one hour. The rest of the day will be freezing cold.”

Today, not only did the wind make it freezing, but it was on and off rain. The weather channel did account for the rain, so props to them on that. I guess the only assumption and logical conclusion that can be made by this all is, I am officially fed up with winter and in between weather. Summer, please come ASAP—I miss my flip-flops.

On the last episode, the contestants were competing against each other in Cheerleaders v. Couch Potatoes. The cheerleaders without a doubt had an advantage over the couch potatoes, because the obstacles in “WipeOut” require a certain amount of physical fitness. It was absolutely hilarious to watch the couch potatoes leap from platform to platform and miss, falling into a pool of water. Now, before you think I am some hugely cruel person, it was just as funny to watch the cheerleaders breakout in cheers like they were at spirit rally when they completed a course. The match-up obviously set it up so the couch potatoes were the underdogs, and like any feel good story, I found myself cheering for the overweight men.

In the end, the competition was won by the cheerleaders—no surprise there. However, all contestants looked like they had an enjoyable experience. I personally found the show extremely entertaining, and a walk down memory lane to “American Gladiator”. Now that is classic programming.
